Daniel Novak, Owner & Lead Technician
Daniel started Novak Lock & Security in 2002 after five years of watching customers get quoted one price on the phone and handed another on the doorstep. He fixed that on day one. Haven Standard Clause 1: the price on the phone is the price on the invoice, no exceptions. Daniel still runs the most complex commercial jobs himself, particularly master key systems and high-security installations involving Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Abloy cylinders. He’s the one who answers the phone at 2 a.m. when the automated systems at other companies have already sent you to voicemail. His left shoulder has a permanent bruise from forty-pound commercial door closers. He doesn’t mention it unless you ask why he’s favoring one side.
Marcus T., Senior Installer
Marcus joined us in 2014 after eight years of residential construction in Cobb County, which means he actually understands door frames, not just what goes into them. He’s factory-authorized on Schlage, Baldwin, and Kwikset product lines, and he’s the technician we send when a customer in East Cobb or Kennesaw needs a full hardware upgrade with proper strike plate reinforcement. Marcus is the one who will tell you, flatly, that your deadbolt is only as good as the door frame it sits in, and then show you the split wood behind the trim without making a production of it. He keeps a collection of failed cylinders in his van to demonstrate why grade 3 residential locks don’t belong on commercial doors. The collection is larger than he’d prefer.
Jennifer K., Service Coordinator
Jennifer answers the phones, schedules the jobs, and maintains the photo record database that documents every visit we make in Marietta and the surrounding fourteen cities. She’s been with Novak Lock & Security since 2019, and she’s the reason a customer in Smyrna who calls at 11 p.m. speaks to a live person instead of a callback queue. Jennifer holds the dispatch records for all 60,000-plus locks, keys, and systems we’ve installed or serviced since 2002, and she’s the one who flags when a commercial client’s access control maintenance is coming due. She has a whiteboard behind her desk with every active job, every technician location, and every promised arrival time, updated in real time. She does not trust software to do this correctly.
Elijah R., Apprentice Technician
Elijah started with us in 2023 after completing a locksmith certification program at a technical college in north Georgia. He’s currently working toward his factory authorizations under Marcus’s supervision, and he’s already handling straightforward rekeys and residential lock installations across Marietta independently. Elijah has a particular interest in electronic access control, which is convenient because half the new commercial inquiries we get in 2024 involve some form of keypad, card reader, or biometric integration. He takes the photo records on every job he touches, which means he’s developed opinions about lighting angles in dim apartment building hallways. His photos are getting better. Marcus still corrects about one in five.
One Standard, Every Job
The Haven Standard isn’t a slogan we put on the vans. It’s a numbered, documented framework that governs how we operate across all ten Haven brands, and every technician at Novak Lock & Security Marietta works to it. Clause 1 is the price rule: quoted in writing before work starts, locked on the invoice. Clause 3 requires the documented photo record you receive at job completion. Clause 7 is the 365-Day Done Right Promise, if it’s not done right, we make it right, on every lock installation, rekey, or emergency call. Daniel Novak implemented these procedures in 2002, and they haven’t changed because they work. Whether we’re rekeying a single cylinder in a Marietta ranch home or installing a full access control system across a commercial property in Cobb County, the standard is the same. The people change depending on the job, the training, and the specialization required. The documentation and the accountability don’t.
